Who Are We?

Henry Sutton has published six novels and a collection of short stories.

His first novel, Gorleston (Sceptre, 1995) was set in a chilly East Anglian seaside town and featured a bunch of badly behaved OAPs. His other novels are Bank Holiday Monday, The Househunter, Flying - all with Sceptre - and then Kids' Stuff with Serpent's Tail in 2003. This was published widely abroad as well as being adapted for the stage. He has also published a collection of satirical short stories, Thong Nation, again with Serpent's Tail, in 2005. His most recent novel, Get Me Out Of Here, is published by Harvill Secker.

For many years he has worked as a literary journalist and book reviewer. He was literary editor of Esquire magazine from 2002 to 2007 and has been the Books Editor of the Daily Mirror since 2001 his weekly books page appears on a Friday.

Henry has taught on a number of Arvon Foundation courses and currently teaches undergraduate creative writing at the University of East Anglia, where he was most recently the Creative Writing Fellow.


In 2008 Henry was chair of judges for the John Llewellyn Rhys prize, He has judged numerous other awards.

He recently moved from London to Norwich with his family.
